« From 1962 (when I was 16) to 1974 I was lucky to photograph the most important jazz musicians of the time. These images have been almost hidden for many years, but recently I have made an outing… A selection of these images have been shown in personal exhibitions in Milano, Roma, Torino, Siena, Napoli, Genova, Verona and other places, and collected in a big photographic book, “Swing, Bop & Free” , which also cointains texts by my father Arrigo , who was a well known jazz critic and historician.
A permanent exibition of my jazz images can be seen in the Fortezza Medicea in Siena, at the Fondazione Siena Jazz , where there is a Center of Jazz Studies dedicated to the memory of my father.

I am also making some self-published books with my photos, which can be ordered on line from my blurb page .
After forgetting photography for almost 30 years, I came back to it a few years ago, and went digital. No more jazz, but different themes. You can see some examples at my other flickr account: www.flickr.com/photos/rpolillo/ » Roberto Polillo.
